Tracker for vehicle fleets

Upon request of a customer, Florence Engineering created a vehicle tracking system based on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module.
It was required that the system be completely integrated into a commercial plastic container measuring 35x65x100 mm, and that it integrate, in addition to the GPS module, also a 2G module, a WIFI and Bluetooth module, IMU, vehicle power input and backup battery.
The most difficult challenge was to be able to integrate all the required hardware in such a limited space, also taking into account the problems related to electromagnetic compatibility, being able to have up to three radio interfaces turned on at the same time next to each other.
The hardware part of this project was handled entirely by Florence Engineering, starting from the design and development of the PCB, the mechanical integration in the container, up to the certifications, including the part relating to voluntary radio emissions. For the software part on Raspberry Pi, Florence Engineering carried out everything necessary to verify the correct operation of all the peripherals and to carry out the tests during the certification tests. The functioning and certified platform was then transferred to the customer who developed the operating software.
