Rotating platform

Florence Engineering designed and realized a rotating mechanical platform for measuring the radiation pattern of high frequency antennas, to be inserted into a complex measurement system made up of other instruments and controlled by a PC. It was required to control the rotation from a PC via USB interface.

The whole development was handled in house, both for mechanical and electronic parts.

The rotating part is equipped with a series of holes to which the support for the antenna being measured is attached.

For the movement, a stepper motor with encoder was used. For the control part, a proprietary board designed by Florence Engineering was used, able to control medium-low power stepper motors, equipped with inputs for limit switches, encoders, analogue inputs and digital I/Os, making it extremely versatile for many applications.
